Sim vs Not so Sim.

There’s two schools of thought on driving games and you’re either in one camp or the other. You either drive sims or you drive arcade. There are the few that like both, I’m one of those that likes either. I like to be able to test myself, well more like frustrate myself, with games like GTx and Forza or Toca or GTR. I also love blasting around in NFSMW, or Burnout, come on who doesn’t love blowin’ everything to hell in Burnout? I know you do, everyone does. There’s a new game coming down the pipe, Grid from Codemaster. They say it’s like Toca and DiRT mixed together. People are ragging because you won’t be able to adjust the cars, make changes to them. Personally I think that will be a good thing. It would be kinda nice to be able to just drive a car that’s sort of in race trim and just have fun with driving skills. I mean let’s face it Burnout or NFS are fun but they aren’t really based to heavily in reality as far as racing and driving skills go.

From what I’ve seen I think Grid is gonna be a great game, I think people are going to have way more fun than they will let on to. Oh the hardcore guys from PlanetGT will all be scoffing and saying how it’s just an arcade game, but secretly they’ll be having a blast drifting around cool road courses against the Vipers and everyone else. And the one thing that I can’t wait to see is the replay mode. That’s always been a great feature I think is watching your races and seeing how you run the track and courses. In GT4 the replays are a little lack lustre, in Forza they just don’t have the graphic quality. In Grid I think they’ll be really cool.

Can’t wait.

Oh and speaking of crappy driving games. Anyone that thinks the Forza series is in any way a game based driving sim is totally delusional. Totally. One phrase - Catch-up AI. The worst I’ve ever seen.

Put that cat in a little-box.

Sorry Apple, sorry Steve ya big weenie your OS blow. Three major revisions/updates in three months? Who are you trying to kid? You released it in the same fashion that MS does. You fired it off a good year too early. And then you lock new machines from installing Tiger? WTF? Apple as a computer company is failing the grade, ya ya shut the hell all you Mac zealots and morons. I use Mac’s myself all day long so I’m more than qualified to throw my opinion out there. As a professional user I expected a lot more than this pile of crap. I’ve down graded machines in order to run Tiger.

I think this is another symptom of the whole Intel failure. I don’t care what people say the current series of laptops, all of them are junk. Period. The defect and failure rate for the Intel stuff is hilarious. Who the hell would want to load Winblows on their Mac anyway? And power? Well that BS, my G5’s kick the hell out of my Intel machine. For that matter my dual 1.25 still smokes. Intel belongs in a Dell not a Mac. And Leopard? Well like the title says, toss that piece of crap into the litter box and let kitty cover it up. ;-)

Mandatory IQ testing required.

Not a new idea, but one that I think should be used for ALL new website design clients. Ya ya, it’s the old client bash rant. Fuck, I’m so sick of dealing with stupid ignorant so-called uniformed clients. Clients that pretend they don’t know anything about the Internet or websites. That ‘really they barely know how to use email’ bullshit. I ain’t buying it anymore, plead ignorance all you want in fact if you mention anything about your grasp and web-smarts I’ll double the usual development rate on the spot. Oh, is that a problem? Toooo bad moron, go try and screw over someone else, go send someone else to the bankruptcy office.

I can hear it all now. ‘Wow what an asshole!’ Hey! As Clark Claxton would say, ‘fuck-off sniveler’. I don’t want to hear it. You idiots have been griping and nickel and diming us designer and developers for so many years now you think we all work for nothing now. It’s too bad all these little snots in their parents basements decided it was good idea to do a website for their dad’s company for fifty bucks. News flash, ‘you’re fucking up the whole market place for people that actually know what they are doing!’

I’ve taken on the habit of treating client meetings as a hostile encounter that I prepare for as if I’m playing a round of 2 on 2. You’re gonna bleed, not me bastard. But what about the whole ‘the customer is the one that calls the shots’ thing? Fuck that, idiots! Why, because they’re paying you? Paying for a service does not mean you have any rights or divine privileges that say you can act like an ass and generally make the task a living hell. What it means is, you are paying for my skills and expertise, period so shut up don’t bother me, and pay your invoice when it’s do. If you do cause problems you can expect your website or application to take the better part of five years to be completed because I’ll work on it when I have absolutely nothing else to do, which isn’t very often.

Get the picture? Good.

Which way do I go?

New Phone New Phone!

Sweet! Nokia 6275i, Love this phone. So far everything has been flawless. Camera is 2mp, not huge but certainly good enough for 5×7 print and tons for web stuff - and it’s got a flash on it. Reception is great, even in a basement it’s there so that’s cool. Features are great, I can’t believe how loud the phone is playing through the speaker, wow.

Screen is huge and bright and being able to change the font color is great when changing wallpapers, that’s a nice plus. Buttons easy to use and hit. Pretty much everything is awesome, there is one thing that I noticed and it’s on all the phones not just mine. The battery cover for some reason has a weird kind of play in it, it’s not loose and doesn’t feel like it’s going to come off, just slides a bit. But I’m used to it already so don’t notice anymore.

Great phone, get it if you need one. Oh and ya screw you Rogers!

Note: Turns out this phone has a major flaw, the battery cover is not secure and keeps coming off. Bad bad Nokia. Ya…….it’s crap!
